Bio

A Canadian playwright, fiction writer and journalist, my writing has appeared in a range of publications, and my theatre has toured cities across the U.S. and Canada.

In 2010, I completed an International MFA at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I was Deputy Editor of the literary journal Witness. I also hold a BFA in Writing from the University of Victoria, and have attended writing studios at The Banff Centre and Summer Literary Seminars in St. Petersburg, Russia. From 2012 until 2017, I will be pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Southern California. I’ll be the Annenberg Fellow in Fiction.

In total, I’ve spent over seven years traveling between Europe, India, Latin America and Africa. In 2010, I traveled to Sierra Leone, where I conducted interviews and research for my first novel titled “The Following.” In the summer of 2010, I was awarded my first Canada Council grant for development of this manuscript. In 2012, I won an Alberta Foundation for the Arts grant for my upcoming collection of short stories called “The Vegaboy Chronicles,” tales of junkies in Las Vegas.

My work is currently being represented by the Anne McDermid and Associates literary agency in Toronto.
